Week 24 Commish's Report: A Tale of Two Foizeys

No, this post is not about Rick Sanborn and son Max Foizey - although it must be said that Sanborn had a decent game, winning his first category of the year and climbing above the 0 belt point mark for the first time this year.

No, this is about Max Foizey, who has a 2-game streak going and has finished first or second his last 5 outings. He has crawled up from the 100 belt point mark to 326 and change now; if this trend continues he could be challenging Colombo for the number two spot soon. So who are the two Foizeys? You have the Max Foizey who plays in the shadow of Tony Colombo, and the Max Foizey who emerges from the darkness.

When Colombo and Foizey are in the same game, Max has 2 wins out of 13, or a .154 average. In these 13 games he has finished last 6 times and scored a total of 2761 points - a 212.4 average. But take Colombo out of the game and Foizey's talents begin to shine! Here Max is 4 for 6, with no last place finishes. Although these games account for less than one third of his total playing time, they include almost one half of his total points with 2711 - an aveage of 451.8. That's more than double his Colombo-shared games.

And here's the ultimate kicker: in Colombo-shared games, Foizey's belt point score would be the Cranesque 44.93, in games without Colombo, he has a 961.01 score - just below where Terbrock now stands.

Apparently Tony Colombo's G.C. Haircut is Max Foizey's Kryptonite! (And if I want to tick off Colombo even more, and I surely do, it should be noted that Foizey now has slightly better odds to win the year-end prize than Mr. Colombo. Take that North County!)

It's obvious now what Foizey must do to have a change to win it all in 2009 - keep Colombo away from the Halfwits arena!

On a side note, as Glover mentioned during the show, if anyone needs help with Trivia Night questions or promotion, I have a new site up: StLouisTrivaNights.com; please go take a look or add it to your friends on Facebook to keep up with upcoming events.
